The name itself is an abbreviation of Buoyancy Control Device also known as a vest. As the name suggests, it allows us to control our buoyancy during the dive. However, this is not the only role that a buoyancy vest fulfills, because we can attach dangling pressure gauge or octopus hoses to it, as well as store other small-sized diving equipment. In most modern BCDs, we can also place our ballast so that the use of the belt becomes unnecessary.
Diving jackets differ in terms of design, use, fit and accessories. You can choose BCD with or without load pockets. More advanced solutions can be found in jackets for technical divers. In this section you will find scuba vests at the best prices in Costa Rica. Our store sells only proven solutions from leading manufacturers of diving equipment.
How does a diving vest work? Most diving BCDs are built very similarly. They have the shape of a vest with one belt securing the cylinder and one belt attached to the valve, some models use two straps for securing the cylinder for better stabilization. We cannot forget about the most important element of the BCD - the inflator which, connected to the low pressure hose, allows the diver to add and deflate air from the vest. As a standard, our vest is also equipped with relief and drain valves, which prevent the vest from being pumped over, and also allow the diver to quickly dump more air.
What are the types of BCD and which one is best for you?Generally, BCD can be divided into two types due to the structure of their air spaces: classic vests and the so-called "wings". The classic type vest has air spaces on the entire surface both on the back and on the sides of the vest. The second type, or "wings", is derived from technical diving and is characterized by placing a buoyancy bag only on the diver's back. The construction of the technical "wings" is based on a plate (steel or aluminum) to which the harness is attached. Contact us to find the best solution for you.
